Pastel accents and pineapple motifs were never going to impress young Joshua when his mum suggested they re-decorate his bedroom with a ‘tropical’ theme.
So Diana went for an iconic wallpaper depicting over-sized banana leaves on a feature wall, and suggested painting the rest of the room, including the ceiling, in a forest green, taken from tones in the wallpaper, to create the feel of deepest, darkest jungle.
The ‘tree-house’ bed idea was an instant hit with Joshua, while Mum appreciated a dedicated study area for the growing homework pile!
With Joshua approaching his eighth birthday, the difficulty for Diana was to combine fun aspects with a more long-lasting, grown-up theme. The dark colour-scheme certainly makes for a more sophisticated finish, while the bed and decorative wall features hint at a much younger occupant…all greeted with whoops of excitement from Joshua, and nods of approval from Mum.
The family now have all the information they need, in the form of design drawings and layouts, mood-board and product list, to decorate Joshua’s room in their own time.
